Found heavily crusted, peeled it off the edges.
Great detail remains.
New Hampshires Award For Service In World War
Thought it was called 'The Great War' till WW2?
Old Man Of the Mountain with Eagle , NH Seal,
All military branch insignia, cavalry,artillery,medic,engineers.
think of the trenches, gas, and face to face combat.

Nice find ! What is the yellow metal - it sure looks like gold ! and what is the crusty layer on top?

I believe the medals metal is brass, it was found in tidal creek mud, where everything (except the 3 gold items I've found) gets crusty.
Wish now that I had taken 'Before Photos',
odd that the crust was only around edge,
while the center is blackened.
