I'm certainly no expert, but I believe that is a WW1 Canadian general service collar badge. it still retains some of the original red wool background. the dime is in beautiful condition

thanks for the info, sounds about right .

Awesome finds.
The dime in great shape is also a key date !

The badge is "rank insignia" and still appears to have a bit of the red velvet remaining ?

Scroll down about a third of this page to see it.

http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/insignia/rankandappointmentinsignia.htm

Quoted from that page.
"Rank stars and crowns worn in the field were usually one colour, either brass or copper. There were high quality dress versions, with red velvets backing the crown, and stars picked out in bright coloured enamels. Officers serving in Guards units wore metal stars of a different pattern. "

Congrats man.

Good piece in nice nick!

thanks for the comments everyone,
there was a iron "bobby pin" type pin that was in the back of it but it turned to bits when it came out of the hole.
i also found 2 rim fire casings (bigger than a .22 more like 26cal) and a small copper chain that looks kinda military like a short distance away not sure if they are related

Nice dime, very cool crown

WTG on two nice saves. :icon_thumleft: That dime is nice and a cool relic there as well. Congrats!
