It never hurts to check the pockets of old looking clothing.
This was in the inside pocket of a dress coat.
What a surprise!

Thanks.. A sweet old woman runs the store.. I couldn't just leave with it.. I took it to the counter I told her how I found it and offered to pay her a few dollars for it.
She just smiled and said you keep it.
She's affiliated with a church and a portion of the profits go to charity.
Seemed like a perfect time to make a donation... so that's what I did.
She told me they come across coins like that in donations from time to time and took down my number and said she would set them aside for me.

Perfect day! :notworthy: :occasion16: Due to your honesty, she's now happy to clue you in to future old coins! Beautiful coin & glad you made a donation. Andi

Thank you.. the smile was free too. :-)

Honesty pays in many ways!

nice and they will save the old coins for you --great

Big thanks everyone!

That's a great find. My wife's uncle's brother (whew) let me search an old house that had collapsed on his property. I found a beautiful IH cent and a V-Nickel in the pockets of some overalls in the cellar. I couldn't believe it!

Great find!! I never would have thought about that angle. I bet I start checking!!

Great find! Did you buy the dress coat and then check the pockets or do you do your hunting in second hand stores? :hello2:

LOL..
Very few times Have I done this... but I had just commented on how old the buttons on the jacket looked ... and the thought crossed my mind to check the pockets .. IDK.. I actually thought I might find paper money.
I didn't buy it.
