Today at lunch I went back to my favorite field. Dug a near Au 1912 D barber dime, 1918 buffalo nickel, and two really cool military buttons. The larger one is a voltigeurs and rifelmen...kinda scarce. I've been finding many military buttons in this field which i find odd being it's southern nj. Also I do admit I did polish the dime. I know I know..your not supposed to do that but I have no intentions of selling any of my finds if I don't have to. The military buttons, one has a V on it and the other one is a smaller size than normal. Well thanks for looking

Damn thats a purty dime!

It's the voltiguers button that has has my attention.. still gathering info. Mexican war , civil war not really sure. Were they french or american..still searching

Wow, how did you clean that dime so nice? I like those buttons, why do you think it strange to find old buttons in South Jersey?

If I want to polish a silver I start with a light never dull to lift the tarnish then Wrights silver cream to bring the luster. As far as the buttons not sure why they would be wearing uniforms here. If found so many buttons..I think it may have been some sort of encampment but there's no history of any encampments in the area of where I hunt.. maybe the men in that era just like wearing there uniform coat all the time. I dunno

That is a really nice barber. Congrats. GL&HH.
