I found this in a mid 1930 house in the front yard here in Utah. Not quite sure what it is. Picture is the front and back side. The color is distorted in the picture. It has a gold look, but the real color is like the 2nd picture. One side it references Idaho, the other it references Seattle. The seeing eye is interesting on the Seattle side. Anyone know what it is?
Thanks for your input

Nice find! The Sovereign Grand Lodge of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows held their convention in Seattle September 20-25, 1909, in conjunction with the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition being held there. The Idaho delegation numbered some 1000, and chartered special cars on the train from southwestern Idaho for both Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. Although it was not stated, the northern Idaho members probably also reserved special cars. The Idaho Statesman newspaper said that, "It is expected that the Idaho special will do a lot of advertising for this state and its resources." Undoubtedly these pieces were made up to be given out by the Idaho delegation to those from other areas in attendance.

Good information and my first question is how on earth you would of known that? I didn't have a clue with Idaho on one side and Seattle with the symbols of a Lodge on the other. Ill have to read up on the Sovererign Grand Lodge of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows to peak my interest. Thanks for your input!

To learn more about Odd Fellowship, their web site can be found at ioof.org where you can also find more on the associated Rebekah Lodge. As far as how I knew the information I posted - I didn't. But, our local library has the local newspaper archives online, so I just searched for IOOF Seattle in 1909 and a bunch of news articles came up, including the one I quoted. There are several subscription services out there that can be searched for information from elsewhere.

I have been searching all old mormon settlements but its a one and a million find but Ill take anything I can find including this Odd fellowship token. At first with the seeing eye I was thinking it was associated with the Masons..... Good luck in your hunting..
