Hey guys my computer has been down. Went out hunting 2 months ago at a park in Northern Missouri with my wife. While she was reading the newspaper, I went over to the largest tree in the park and got a high pitch at 8-9 inches deep. Started diggin, looked in the hole, saw the letters 'USA'. Got excited, went real slow at digging. When I finally got it out of the hole I was really excited. Ran across the park to my wife, and she said I looked like a little kid that just robbed a candy store. She thinks it is a cool find also and I just wanted to share it with you guys.

MOST EXCELLENT!! Great job ibbasser!!!

Nice find Basser....that things has got a great look, nice patina, very pretty, and great insignia of the fair...Very cool piece, Congrats.

Copied from the site that cableman gave you the link to. I would get it checked out and DON't Clean it!!

A particularly rare piece of Fair memorabilia is a padlock with World's Fair designs or words, in any of several styles. Legend has it that some of these locks may have been used to secure Fair buildings on nights and Sundays (when the Fair was closed), but were more likely sold or given away by lock companies who exhibited at the Fair

Very nice piece of history,,,WTG!!!
As stated earlier, that should be a rare collectable...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Nice find. I found 2 locks in the past 5 months. Only one was complete with the ring.

2 U can go to library and in the antique section should be a Kovel price guide-probably an older edition, maybe a 2002. Look under padlocks and should get an idea. Kovel is just one of many similar priceguide books-there are others as well.
You might go back and check around the tree-it's doubtful but a slim chance the key's nearby.

WTG on the lock find ! It's a nice one. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep up the good work !
