Found my first old coin with the GTI 2500!! A 1904 Indian Head! In an open field behind the liquor store of all places, there used to be a home due to all the old blue and purple bottles so I gave it a shot, and its a few streets over from my house! Ill post pics when I clean it up but its in great condition, the liberty looks visible on the headband.

that's great. I love indian heads. since Lincolns weren't produced until 1909, the title to this thread is really an attention getter! :laughing9:

Good save!

Moderators? Is there a way to edit one's title to a post after submitting? ???

It says you can edit your title, but it only edits the title within the thread, not on the main page. Which sucks! That should be fixed.

Congrats on the great find! :occasion14:

Found my first Indian Head penny at Cypress College down in So. Cal. Was living
across the street and used to detecting there with my Whites detector. Had just bought
a 5000D, Series 2 machine, moving up from a Compass 420. Was working the
grass next to the track, and got a signal waaay down deep. Got it pinpointed and
started heading for (what seemed to be) China! Finally about 15" down in the damp
soil I found a 1902 IH penny! Odd part was that college was built in the 1970's, and
no doubt there was a lot of fill dirt brought in to level the play field and track..can't
imagine how else that coin could have landed there!

Well, I suppose one could just delete the post and redo the title the next time. :dontknow:
