This is the first Indian head Penny I found just to say I never clean my coins but this one I froze in water then thawed did that a few times to take the dirt off with out damaging the coin. I think it works good but I also heard to never use water to clean copper this is the only coin I ever did it to

I never had a problem with cleaning Indian heads with water the only thing is the more you try to clean a penny that's been in the ground for over a hundred years it's going to erod the more you try to clean it so you just have to be very careful how you do so I think putting all kinds of chemicals on the coins is what makes it not good for the coin

I think chemicals take value away for sure. All I know is that the ice cube trick took all the dirt off the coin and it looks better with out all the stuck on dirt
 

For sure, I never tried that method I think I'll give it a whirl. See I just use running hot water an just let it soak it seems to work pretty good really the trick is to be patient
