Welcome from the UK :icon_thumright:

Welcome to Tnet! Nice finds at your new spot!!!

The best advice I can give you on the E-Trac is to just get as many hours use under your belt as you can, and try some different settings here and there to see what you like best. I learn something new with my E-Trac all the time. In fact, the latest thing I learned is to turn the sensitivity way down to somewhere around 8 or 10 when I'm in an area with tons of interference (not sure if it is electrical or ground mineralization, but think it is the latter), which brings back a threshold and allows me to detect the area, although giving up some depth. I found a walking liberty half a few weeks ago using this method. The other advice is to swing SLOW - and I am the biggest offender of this rule as I like to swing fast. I need to keep slowing myself down. Finally, get a copy of Andy Sabisch's book on the Explorer and E-Trac. It is loaded with great tips and custom programs used by very successful detectorists.

Good luck!

Jim

Welcome to TreasureNet! Good finds, especially the dime. Silver is good, old silver is just that much better. The triangular "thingy" looks like the piece from the back of a pair of suspenders--the part which joins the two straps in the back.

Keep hunting. You have a good start already.

Nice first silver find! I was hoping that my first silver would be something like that mine was just a 1953 dime.
