Went back to the early 1900's campsite that gave up a 1904 Teddy Roosevelt watch fob and five horseshoes. Found a lot of junk iron, as well as an eight horseshoe spill! I'm setting all sorts of personal horseshoe records at this spot! Boring, I know, but I like finding iron relics.

But the find of the day was an 84 signal about six inches down. I was hoping for a Barber dime, but out pops a large cent! Pretty toasted, but I think it's from 1827. Can't imagine how it ended up at this spot. Maybe it was someone's lucky coin? No idea, but I'm glad they lost it.

I'm trying to wrap my head around an 8 legged horse.... :dontknow:

Thats a very nice coin also :icon_thumright:

That's what it is cool find. When you wrap your head around that 8 legged horse ya better horse it doesn't kick lol

Thanks, guys! Hard to imagine 13 horseshoes in one area. Not a dump site, because there's zero broken glass or pottery. Maybe they were using horses for logging and wearing out shoes on a regular basis? Scituate has some pretty rough terrain in the woods.

I'm now up to 63 horseshoes since I started detecting back in 2013! Gotta stop saving all these iron relics. Running out of places to stash them!

Nice old copper coin find! :occasion14:

With that many horse shoe finds, just think of the luck the future brings.:laughing7: nice largie.
