18th Century? 19th Century? Civilian 2-Piece "Star" button

Found at an early site. Looks to be possibly larger ball button? Very neat little button. Perfect 5pt star in middle of button. Looks to be two-piece more of the 19th century style. Shank missing. No back mark that I can see. Button is only 1/2" in width. Thought at first cuff button, now leaning towards ladies dress button?

It looks like it depicts a sand star ..early 2oth century would be my guess.
