I have found my share of gold bands, gold rings with channel diamonds, gold rings with one or more set diamonds including a Gents' ring with a 1/4 ct center diamond. Heck, I even found a 1 ct diamond cluster gold ring. But I have never found a gold and diamond engagement solitaire ring, until today.
I was 40 minutes into my hunt with the CTX 3030 with 17" coil in the surf and it was quiet, real quiet when I got a strong hit - 12:10 and stable numbers. It was my first scoop of sand and at the bottom of the scoop was this BIG Gold ring.
The Gents ring has a center square composed of 4 princess-cut (square-cut) Blue Sapphires (0.1ct each) and both flanking bands have a channel of 5 diamonds (.02ct ea). The ring is marked 750 - 18K GOLD and weighs a massive 11g. Now that put a smile on my face. I knew it would be all gravy from here and I had 4 more hours to hunt!
The hours flew and its amazing how quickly time goes by. I was working my way back to my initial entry point and had about 30 minutes left to hunt. As I passed the public beach in about 3 1/2ft of water I got a good, but not great, signal at 12:06. Two scoops of sand later, I reassessed the target location given that it had eluded me. It was also deep, about 12"+ down. I plunged my 13" Stealth scoop into the center of the hole as if I was trying to tear the heart out of the Devil. As I shook-out the scoop I was absolutely tickled to find a small solitaire at the bottom among shells. It was so romantic. My First Solitaire, I immediately said to myself. I've been looking for you for a long time.
The yellow gold diamond solitaire ring is marked 14K and weighs 2.88g. The diamond weighs 0.08 ct. No, I did not misplace the decimal point! And I don't mind one bit. The ring/band is beautiful with 2 outer rows of dots and between the rows is feathered. It has the appearance of being white and yellow gold.
My very first diamond solitaire ring...I'm so happy. Yes, I do! Yes, I do!
Happy hunting.
