I hunted some old property that a school in my area bought years ago and never really did anything with it. I hesitated hunting this site before because it's so in the open and in the public view (I'm sure some of you can relate), but I got my nerve up and stayed as descrete as possible with my digging and popped up this 1893 O barber quarter at 7" much to my surprise. There's alot of copper trash from the houses that once stood there that was driving me nuts but I managed to pull out this little lead bulldog that is dressed as a mascot. I can't make out what it says on the top completely but part of it says "Wells College". I know there's a Wells College in NY but not in Illinois so far as I know. I also found this hotwheels car, not a great find but I like the model of the car. I also found lots of clad and copper whatsits that I didn't show. There should be alot more at this site because I barely touched it, so I hope to have more to post in the future.
Thanks for reading. HH
John

WTG on the big silver. I know exactly what you mean as hunting goes. I like to be out of sight, out of mind type hunter. I don't like company, unless it's a hunting partner. All of my hunting place are out in the country or on the edge of town in a small town.

Here's an updated pic after a little cleaning . I know alot of people don't like to clean their silver coins, but I never sell anything I find and if it was a valuble coin I wouldn't clean it at all. I think it turned out great. If your interested in how I cleaned it, here it is.
1. Light electrolisis (15 minutes, check every 5 min)
2: Baking soda/water paste and a q-tip, then rinse
3: a litttle clr (10 second soaking) and a q-tip
4: rinse with distilled water
5: more baking soda/water paste and q-tip
6: rinse with distilled water
7: repeat 3-7 as needed
Try at your own risk, but I wouldn't do this for anything valuble
