1893 coloumbian exposition in chicago mystery item

Puns this little thing by a local high school. Were no where near Chicago. This exposition was the world fair celebrating the 400th anniversary of Columbus. This thing; I have no idea what it is. Has the mark and 1893.

The commission that made that also had silver half dollars minted for 1892 and 1893. That match case would look really cool mounted next to one of the coins, which can be had on eBay for under $15.
