1892 Mexican Liberdad "heroin spoon" (pictures added)

Between rain showers I have been hitting my yard with my new F5. Had a good hit 4 inches down and dug a nice large Mexican silver dollar. It had been pressed into a cup shape and has a crude looped handle brazed on. Sadly I think this was for shooting heroin. I can not think of any other purpose for this set up.

This place had a 1890's log cabin that is long gone but the barn still stands and I have found a bucket of square nails and one old aluminum thimble so far.

The "coin" was closer to where a rental house trailer stood in the 70's.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Pictures added as requested:

Google says that silver spoons were preferred as they would not contaminate the drug with "poisons" - go figure?

It sure lays nicely across ones finger freeing up the other hand for whatever.

My wife deemed it creepy!

Paul:
Yes, it certainly is for heroin.
Note the Mexican coin; it's legit on the underside and isn't legit on the top.
In fact, the topside image is that of a horse.
'White horse' or 'Mexican horse' is another way of saying heroin.
Welcome to Treasure Net !!

I googled the coin and it is a real Mexican coin - it has a flame pattern on the bent out side that says "Liberdad" and an Eagle on the other. Having a flame pattern on the bottom is ironic, maybe that is why they used this particular coin.

Would love to know the history of this - maybe it came back from Vietnam? Maybe some hippie made it? We have a Vietnam Veteran that has farmed this field but he is as straight laced as they come. If it is his I doubt he wants it back.
