Here are my finds from this last weekend. Nate and I went back to the place I found the Barber Half. About the second signal I dug was this V Nickel.
I thought – cool, I can already go home with a keeper.
Worked the area and picked up some wheats, some clad, tabs, etc. Got a good hit by the base of a tree. Try to dig and CLUNK, right into a big root. Had to really work around it. Finally when I got the coin free I was looking at my first Canadian Large Cent. Very Cool. 8)
Rest of the morning I just tried different spots. Went over to where Nate was and saw his Barber Quarter laying on a rag near my back pack. It was caked with dirt and at first I thought it was one of those aluminum Sunoco tokens. When he told me it was a Barber Quarter I was a little dumbfounded. Anyway I went back to detecting and ended up with a silver war nickel a 1918 Buffalo Nickel and 30+ wheat pennies. Not like last weekend but I was happy.
A couple other finds that are worth posting. They both came from my mom’s old farm house. First item looks like a bell.
The last item I was detecting under a pine “bush”. Got the corner of it and pulled it out(wasn’t that deep). Another surprise. Just never know what you’re going to find.
