1880's Mansion - Westchester County NY *MORE PICS ADDED

I was real excited about this hunt. I had just recently gotten permission to hunt this mansion in Westchester County NY that was built in 1884 and is on 17 acres. The grounds are absolutely beautiful but the mansion itself has fallen into disrepair and needs a complete remodeling. It's actually for sale right now and the asking price is only $11,000,000 in case any of you are needing something a little larger.
Anyway I hunted for about 4.5 hours and the finds were not quite as exciting as I had hoped but I did find some silver including a bent Standing Liberty Quarter and a base for a vase (I think) and a few mystery items that maybe some of you folks can ID for me. I didn't even begin to cover the whole 17 acres but I did enough exploratory testing (wandering aimlessly) to find out where the highest concentration of signals were. I'm not sure that I'll go back since it's about an hour drive one way for me and gas prices are getting superstupid lately.

Can anyone tell me what the cylinder thing is? I think it's brass and it says "open" and "close" on the end with a pat number. ??? And the other thing that looks like an ancient coin I think is a lead seal but maybe someone can enlighten me on that one as well.

Lots of pictures......enjoy!

Nice! A lot of acreage but there's definately more there to come up with. Can't wait to see more of them soon!

Re: 1880's Mansion - Westchester County NY

The brass plug witht the open/close on the top is an anchor that goes around a swimming pool deck and is used to hold the cover on in the winter time. It either screws all the way out or it is spring loaded.

The one lead piece is a bag seal, great place to hunt..Keep us posted....Relic

Ahhhhh.....OK that makes sense because I found it near one of the pools (Yes, I said "one of the pools"). Thanks for the ID.

It's pretty ugly. No date and it's scarred up on the obverse from getting run over or something. It's even a little bent from whatever happened to it.

I added a couple more pics. Is anyone good with silver hallmarks?

Good huntin'..........

Re: 1880's Mansion - Westchester County NY *MORE PICS ADDED

Most definately a Dick tracy capgun, I have about 8 of them that I have gotten out of local parks around here, I restored 2 that will fire caps. The best time to sell them is when the Dick Tracy movie comes around again........ notgittinenny

Cough, cough...........Joe, I think what Tom is saying is that we can all throw in gas money and hunt this place without breaking our wallets! Seriously, I'd throw the gas money for this any day. What day is good for you? :)

What a site looks to be some really good hunting there. You have some really cool finds. I would be going back till not a single beep was heard.
