1880's Mansion - Westchester County NY *MORE PICS ADDED
I was real excited about this hunt. I had just recently gotten permission to hunt this mansion in Westchester County NY that was built in 1884 and is on 17 acres. The grounds are absolutely beautiful but the mansion itself has fallen into disrepair and needs a complete remodeling. It's actually for sale right now and the asking price is only $11,000,000 in case any of you are needing something a little larger.
Anyway I hunted for about 4.5 hours and the finds were not quite as exciting as I had hoped but I did find some silver including a bent Standing Liberty Quarter and a base for a vase (I think) and a few mystery items that maybe some of you folks can ID for me. I didn't even begin to cover the whole 17 acres but I did enough exploratory testing (wandering aimlessly) to find out where the highest concentration of signals were. I'm not sure that I'll go back since it's about an hour drive one way for me and gas prices are getting superstupid lately.
Can anyone tell me what the cylinder thing is? I think it's brass and it says "open" and "close" on the end with a pat number. And the other thing that looks like an ancient coin I think is a lead seal but maybe someone can enlighten me on that one as well.
Lots of pictures......enjoy!
