Ok...so these werent found today, but I did find them before our big snow storm out here! I got permission from a fellow to hunt an old tobacco farm from the 20s'-30s' and found some really nice stuff... few indians, 4 silver dimes and my favorite, a Simon's bros. 10 panel silver thimble! I've seen friends dig silver thimbles up, but this is a first for me! One of my favorite finds! I also found a cool crotal bell with some designs on it and the #5. The base (I dont know if anyone can see it well) has what looks like to be to be: IIIXX. Don't know what that means but if anyone does id be happy for any info on it! Last of all I found a iron whatsit. Sharp as hell! No joke, I can almost shave hair off my arm with it even tho it is all rusted! No clue what it is... I posted in the whatsit section. Maybe part of an iron fence? But why is it so SHARP?!?!? Donno... maybe one of you do tho! Thanks for looking! 2012-12-26 15.11.09.jpg2012-12-26 15.11.51.jpg2012-12-26 15.20.23.jpg2012-12-26 15.19.52.jpgOh yeah! Forgot about this pin too! I so thought at first it was gonna be gold and gems...but it turns out it is just really heavily plated gold with glass stones...=( still really cool tho I think!!=) 1356556865362.jpg1356556890854.jpg1356556910037.jpg1356556926312.jpg1356556946998.jpg1356557123665.jpg1356557103518.jpg

Nice finds, I'm probably not the one to listen too but the iron looks alot like a arrow head or a small spear head

Actually IIIXX is backwards. It's XXIII... Roman numeral for 23. If there are letters before "X, C, L, M, etc." it is subtracted, thus IV is 4, V is 5, and VI is 6. If it was meant as IIIXX it should be 17, but Roman numeral 17 is written as XVII. 21 is XXI.

wow!! you got 2 items at the top of my wish list; the bell and the thimble. That thimble is sweet!! congrats

One of the nicest thimbles I have seen.

Awesome thimble!

Awesome finds the thimble and the bell are very cool!!

Your arrow head appears to be a trading arrow head. the French traded them for goods furs and other things. similar arrowheads are still used today with longbows. Great finds. I love the bell I found one up in the northwest territory at tazen lake on a smallbeach. Way supper cool finds. Don't drink and drive you might spill your drink

Beautiful Thimble!! I would take that over any of those coins hands down.. CONGRATS.. HH

great finds.....that metal point could be very old

Is the patent date on one of the thimble's panels? If so, what is that date?
I believe the #12 is the size of the thimble. I just based the age on a database on simons bros ten pannel thimbles, and they were popular in that style from the 1880s-1890s. The monogram "s" inside is undoubtedly from the "simons bros" company.
