Today I took my brother who was visiting out digging with me and he found this sweet 1874 pattern belt plate. We also found the silver thimble and spoon end, large flat button, buckle, and the other item that I'm not familiar with. We were hoping the buckle was civil war but still a cool find either way.

Nice Indian Wars sword belt plate!

That's a really nice group of finds. The belt plate is very nice. Looks like you have a good site there

Some sweet recoveries. That belt plate is awesome. I dug a similar piece back in 2007 at a property that was in the center of a one day CW battle here in NC.
I was told it was a sword belt plate, but not CW. I'm still puzzled. :dontknow: Here's a few pictures for comparison.
As you can see, mine is slightly different. For example, look how far your eagle wingspan is compared to mine.
Congrats,
MM

Nice plate!

Interestingly enough this old unsolved thread came up while researching same plate...

Indian War sword belt... perhaps even just a simple sash plate. ... these seem to have eluded everyone but surface from time to time.. IMO.

Might be time to put this LONG overdue (6 year) old thread to rest...

Btw way... link to new post made yesterday... http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/601227-relics-need-identification.html
