me and my friends have argued what those reeds are for. I have found tons of them. What are they for? What instrument(s)?

I think reeds like that fit keyboard instruments like organ or accordion.

yes accordion. the age on most of those items apear to be early 1900's.

Here is a whole organs worth I dug behind an old house site. I find these in civil war camps.

When you clean those reeds you find a thin copper strip which produces the
sound. Who knows how many different tones are required on an accordian?

It looks like its from a reed organ to me like Dirtymike said.

Heres a pic of old squeeze box reeds.. I forget what theyre called, found at CW camps.
Concertina I think.
