Nice silver finds, Ang! And great looking shield nickel as well!

My hunting buddies and a close up of the back side of the spoon. Can't wait to get out again!

Thanks! Definately not afraid of the dirt...been detecting since I was 12 (with Dad)...Linda, the other lady is new to the hobby and I think she has the bug, her hubby got her a detector for her birthday!

Your button is actually quite a bit earlier than the civil war, more like early 1800's. 1820's i believe. Nice finds

I like that nickle....... don't have one of those...... yet :laughing7: but plan on one someday.

That's alot of silver you found today Ang! :o
Congrats on the spoon and the thimble! :hello2:

Nice picture of you and your detecting buddies!
Looks like you all need to invest in some knee pads though! :laughing7:

Right on Dave...yep, I could have used my knee pads!

Your button is what is known as a Great Coat button. The one piece versions turn up on 1820s/1830s sites. The two piece versions were in use as late as the 1850s.

That button is a nice find. Might be more there.

Very nice! That nickel is awesome.

Wow, that's very good news! I'll let Linda know as she was the one who found the button! I found the shield nickel! We will go back and detect the area again!

Thanks!!

Looks like a fun hunt with friends. Nice finds, especially the button and shield nickle. I have found a few shields but none in that good of condition.

Great finds ,you can drop that shield nickel in Worcestershire sauce,I found my first one last week.
After few days in the sauce I could not believe my eyes ,congrats again :icon_thumright:
