Been working hard to make a couple more finds before the end of the year. This isnt much but it is still good in my book. This is my first shield nickel. I dug probably 30 shotgun shells, many sqaure nails and other iron. Yes I dig almost every signal, that is the only way for me to get something like this in my pocket. My classic ID stikes agian. I work with a dinosuar. One iron piece is neat. I am not sure what it is but it is cool. I was able to buy some books from a sale that Is very cool. They are Buttons of the confederacy. Confederate centennial studies number 5 of 450 books made. Captians of the civil war and confederate staff officers. These books are all from the late 50 and early sixties. They smell like it too. I love em . Well lets go try agian before then end of the year.

Nice NICK in AWESOME shape!! That's better than most days. CONGRATS.. HH

You did good. Those shield nickels are hard to find and those books that you got are getting rare to locate. Tennessee digger

That metal thing reminds me of a manual transmission clutch fork. When the clutch is depressed the fork moves the throwout bearing away from the clutch plate fingers. Nice nickel!!63bkpkr

Great finds....both above and below the ground!

NICE HIT !!!!!:occasion14:

The fork looks like something you would take a wagon wheel off , in my opinion

Thank you very much, I thought it may be for something of that nature. I have dug many ox and horse shoes there as well...Cheers. Thanks to all for the comments. This is the same place I found my 1852 3cent piece a week and a half ago. Weather is to bad to be out for a couple of days ,so I guess I am hanging it up till Tuesday. I have a lead on some old rock structures deep in them hills. Hope to get a good start on the new year.

Great find, nickels are always cool to find
