I hadn't been out in a few weeks but I had a couple of hours before going food shopping for Thanksgiving. I decided to go back to a place I had found this spring. I went all around it but only dug up junk iron. I'm still in a learning process on the CTX so I was thinking maybe I missed something now that I have 5 more months on it. Yeah, I did. I found some iron relics( I really like the fireplace shovel) IMG_20171110_160224243-780x1040.jpgand a rather large chisel( I wonder what it was used for)IMG_20171110_160255863_crop_298x885.jpg
Then a 1864 Indian popped up,along with a harmonica reed. I got four buttons. A large tombac, one with a flower pattern that says orange gilt on the back, and 2 more that say, warranted gilt and treble gilt. Along came a fork that says Rogers Bros on the back. Dug a lantern piece with a date of January 11,1868 on the wheel. Now to the different stuff. At first I thought it was just a spoon bowl until I cleaned it . I'm not sure what it is. It's got holes in it,maybe part of a tea strainer? No idea. Last item is some type of buckle . Not sure what it was off of but pretty neat.Any help on it is appreciated. Thanks for looking!IMG_20171121_151041865-1040x780.jpgIMG_20171121_151344086_crop_337x350.jpgIMG_20171121_151056737_crop_381x492.jpgIMG_20171121_151118996_crop_386x508.jpgIMG_20171121_151140575_crop_277x299.jpgIMG_20171121_151152749_crop_265x279.jpgIMG_20171121_151344086_crop_337x350.jpgIMG_20171121_151429427_crop_722x624.jpgIMG_20171121_151419867_BURST000_COVER_TOP_crop_624x442.jpg

Nice going on the IH and that's pretty cool buckle. Can't recall seeing one shaped like that before, hope someone will ID it for you. The chisel item is cool, have dug similar ones over the years , I guess they were used in doing mortise and tenon joints in log construction.

The iron relic under the chisel is an old-fashioned curry comb for grooming horses. The silver piece may be a flattened salt shaker top. I've found a few like that at sites going back to the early 1800's and they're usually very thin metal.

Nice post, very cool finds! Congrats and HH

Congrats. I like the fork! Found me a knife today. We now only need a spoon!

my first thought was a salt shaker, just a weird metal.

Love the color on that indian head. One of these days I'm going to paint a car that color. :happysmiley:
