my mother bought this at a local antique shop in Easton , Mass . back in the early 70's (where we lived). It was left to me when she passed 20 years ago .
I remember most of the big buildings in town were named after the Ames family . In school they told us kids about the shovel co. they had and how they supplied the trans-continental railroad with tools .

I just pulled this out of storage - I checked Google Patents - But couldn't find anything . Maybe I used the wrong Keywords ???
