1863 indian with a twist...

Plucked this from near an 1800's temple in town, the back side is missing the shield and the "one cent", and has raised words and a few iron crosses with >< on each side of the crosses. Looks like the top word was v ? ? ? e me. as. you pleas, any ideas?

** looks like it was "value me as you pleas" , googled "me as you pleas coin" and found these references....
