1862 2 Cent Piece found. Is it the small motto variety??

Found this 2 cent piece a few months back and saw another member asking the board if it was the rare type. According to another members examples of both, it appears that mine may be the smaller version. :dontknow:

Wow, thats in great shape for a find. :thumbsup: I do think it is the larger motto though. Either way, a pretty sweet two center. Congrats!

Definitely a large motto. For me, the easiest way to distinguish the two versions is in the shape of the letter E in the word WE. In the large motto version, the E is tall and narrow, and the outline forms a vertical rectangle. In the small version, the E is short and squatty, and the outline forms more of a square.
 

WTG on that 2 cent piece, it is in remarkable condition showing little wear. :icon_thumleft:
