Tenderfoot
1860 British Farthing with Equinox 800 about 7" deep in sandy loam. VDI was a solid 19 with three triangles showing. The first pass banged pretty hard, and I thought it might be an IHC (Indianhead) since those respond in the VDI range of 18-19.
This British Farthing was on a hilltop overlooking a small pond that must have been quite a hunter's paradise since I have also found numerous 1880 and older shotgun headstamps made by the Delaware Cartridge Company.
I am in the process of validating the coin to be one of the oldest found through metal detection in the State of Minnesota.
