Got out with my friend Dave for a while this afternoon to a new cellar hole he had located. Came away with an absolutely beautiful 1857 flying eagle cent and 1873 Indian head, also in very nice condition. Also located a nice suspender clasp, small buckle which says Paris on it and an oil lamp, "E Miller Pat Jul 21 1863".

Only got to spend a few hours here and the spot is large with about a 10 acre field that we didn't even touch. This will be our first stop for the Brothers and Others Fall Hunt that starts next week. Rick is coming out from Calf. and we will be hunting from Thursday through Tuesday. Can't wait. Thanks for looking...Lance

The Brother's and Other's are alway's cool Lance...Can't wait,seem's you guy's alway's tear it up.Unbelievable "prelude" to what's coming.....Awesome dig's and sweet Eagle,Congrat's and HH!!

Thats really a nice looking suspender . I cant wait till you have the Brothers Hunt and see what you guys come up with this year!

That flying eagle is absolutely beautiful!!!! The suspender clip is great I love it. It is probably mid-late Victorian. That other buckle is either a small mid-late Victorian sock, garter or even cravat buckle (see pic as taken from their website). They inter-changed them from what I've been able to research.

Thanks Ed. My guess is it is not a Cravat, these people didn't have that kind of money. More like a garter or sock. Thanks..Lance

Lance...Congrats on an awesome Flying Eagle,as others have stated, it is also the best looking dug Flying Eagle I;ve seen as well....WTG!!! Shoudl be a great spot with all that acreage for your brothers hunt...Good luck and hope you find alot more goodies there!!!

I hate to sound repetitive but that is a beautiful Flying Eagle. The IH held up great in the ground as well. Looks like the ground might be forgiving on a large coppa as well. Hopfully you'll find several. I cant wait to see what comes next from that site. Good luck.

Congratulations,

Those coins are in amazing shape. They must have been dropped soon after they were minted. I wonder what you could buy with that flying eagle in 1857?

Fantastic finds. And what excellent condition they are in. I am yet to find an IH I could keep, they were all ate up by the acidic ground here. I have never found a flyin cent. Fantastic finds all the way around for you.

Rev

What a lovely Fleagle that is! You must have some 'friendly dirt' at that site. Great finds!
