1851 Large cent

This afternoon I went back out to the 20 acre field I have been working for the past two weeks. Every day, this field seems to give up one good find. Today it was an 1851 Large Cent in Extremely fine, but slightly pitted condition. The attached scan does not do it justice. I got a mixed signal on my XLT and found a 30 caliber cartridge. Checked the hole and got a quarter signal. Dug a little bit further and the Large cent was sitting there under a root. I also found a nice ox shoe and a small flat button. Made my day....Lance

Around here they are not nearly as common as in the East. Do you know what was originally on this site?
