Yes, just think of the hands that held it and the mouths that it fed! It's nice to be able to ID it. Most of the dinnerware I have found is just a piece and unidentifiable.

Almy thanks and that's prob my favorite part of this hobby is putting the story together. Items that date to an early land claim that u can put a family name to. Finding other relics from the time period of that Homesite. You can almost put yourself back in time and picture how their lives were back then.
 

Now that's some sexy patina! Coins and military memorabilia are awesome, but to me, an old well used/much needed personable item that tells a story is just as good.

That's a very high end name in flatware. I'll buy any piece of Christofle that finds its way to a thrift store, because I can almost always get at least 10 times more than thrift store prices out of it if I was to go put it up for sale on ebay.

@tamrock that is interesting to know. I know he was one of the earliest legit silver smiths i believe
