I am new to this forum and have only been detecting now for about a month and a half. I have been hitting it hard finding some good coin and relics but these two I found the same day, my oldest coin and button. If you can date the button, I would appreciate it. I have read about others similar in the 1830- 1860's. Thanks for viewing.

Thats a nice looking braided hair cent you found. I like big pic's. A least i'm able to see them and some others post are so small that i need to get out the magnifing glass and still can't see what they have.  :wav: :wav:

Nice cleaning job on that LC--what did you use to clean it with?

Also, if you could tell us what the button says on the back, it'll help us date it if possible.

That coin looks great! I would also love to know how you cleaned it!!!

This coin came out of the ground in pretty good shape but I did electrolysis with 18 volts for about 5 minutes, cleaned off with baking soda and used OOO steel wool to clean it up without scratching it. I actually cleaned it up much better after taking the picture, it looks almost new again. I don't do this to all of my coin finds and I definitely babysit the process so I don't overcook.
