Detector(s) used
Minelab 705, Garrett ace 250
Today was the day for me to get serious at my new spot. I spent about two hours with the big coil on my ACE 250, and then one more hour with the sniper coil. The sniper coil found all of the good stuff today.

This site goes back to about 1780. The apple trees here are HUGE !! Very old and still producing amazing apples. I figured that if I spent some time in the orchard that something nice would show up....... The iron is EVERYWHERE. I had to switch over to the sniper coil to find the good stuff. I cant wait for me Minelab to be up and running again.
The owner, Mr. Wilson purchased the property from Mr. Dimock in 1973. It has never been metal detected !! Unfortunately they burned out last year and are in the process of building back the house and a smaller barn.
The 1847 Large Cent is my first Braided Hair. I wanted to stay longer but the rain was starting to come down so I called it a morning.
I type with one finger so I will let the pics tell the story of what I may find. There will be lots of pics in the next few posts.

Congrats on finding your first braided hair LC!. I also recently found my first one, an 1845.

A few of the many site pics I took today. Also something from my Topsham book. Can I post these?

Probably another two weeks for the Morels. I hunt those tasty fungi every spring ;D

The owner Mr. Wilson and one other person are building the house by them selves. Mr. Wilson is in his early sixty's. I will probably add updated pics of the house in future posts.

I was wondering if it was a nozzle from one of the old fashon fire extinguishers. The kind you fill with water and hold upside down :dontknow:

My first large cent was an 1847. I love how thick the Coronet (braided hair) are. You know you scored copper when you see that fat edge peekin out at ya.

Thanks for all of the replies !

Here are a few pics of the "farm dump" that is on the property.

Hey, VP, even though a Braided Hair isn't as old as we all hope, it is still a largie and adds to the pile!

I was actually glad to see a Braided Hair. I said a few posts ago that I had never found one. Now that that goal is out of the way..... I have never found a KG or Spanish silver. ( I hope this works)
Maybe this weekend :headbang:
