Just received a green light for a new permission around the corner from me in NJ. So I spent an hour there. I believe the house dates between 1800-1840 but I cannot find information so I'm letting my finds guide me.

The find of the day was a 1844 Bank token from Canada. Bank of Montreal specifically. The history behind these is similar to many other times of token minting. A shortage of small change in lower Canada forced banks to mint their own small coinage.

Believe it or not a Canadian token was on my list. Check!.

She's shot and didn't stand a chance but I tried. The details were just so fine on that one.

Overall I found a few keepers. A bent and torched IHP, reign guide, and flat button rounded things outImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463529273.312486.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463529282.188677.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463529291.404523.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463529299.039748.jpg

Enjoy and good digs

That token cleaned up great man. Much better than a LC any day. Looks like a good property to get some short hunts in and I bet some more good stuff turns up there. What's the thing that says "princess" on it?? Haha

Looks pretty good to me!

I swear it looks like a rubber tin. Princess brand jimmy hat? Dunno.

Damn... turns out it's a compact tin. Google image "princess pat tin". Rubber tin was much cooler. Ha. I have a couple of the merry widows ones.

Nice coin you hoser! Time to pound a two-four eh?

I found the same coin a few years ago. Of course yours isn't bent haha

Hey Steve I think it's spelled just EH ? butt's not written in stone EH ? Hahah.
Cool finds.
Going back to the field of the French coin tomorrow, to see if I left it there.

Congrats for pulling those keepers Steve. :occasion14: I really like the token. I never knew about the Canadian tokens until I dug one last September. Mine was a half penny from the Bank of Upper Canada dated 1854. How big is the site? It's always nice to have a local site that's producing. Saves on gas and travel time,= more time swinging the coil.

Great finds and nicely displayed; congrats !!
Don......

Thanks Don. I was sitting there for about 10 minutes after I dug the coin trying to see lady liberty. So I gave up until I got home as not to ruin it

Nice token Steve. I'm glad you were able to scratch that one off of your list.

That's pretty cool Kevin. I saw that one when I was going through Canadian tokens.

Any day when you can scratch one off is a good hunt. Cheers

I'm glad you enjoy the finds. This sites original dirt is buried under top soil and fill, but the finds will hopefully keep surfacing.

Well done Scrappy. I like the token!

Well done Scrappy. I like the token!

I like it too. My crazy wife glanced at it and said that it just looks like another green disk, like all the rest.

For shame!! Lol

Cheers bud
