1841 Seated Dime, 1800's Fire Department Button
Hi All,
My friend Gary and I finally got out to hunt an old race track that we hunted more then ten years ago. It was a corn field when I was a younger, then they stopped planting corn. So when we hunted it last it was just used as a hay field. Back then between Gary and I we dug 36 coins with an 1857 Flying Eagle being the oldest found. Fast forward till now, the field was tilled two years ago and corn was planted again. I believe the ground was not producing corn well so they went back to the hay field idea. Anyways yesterday we finally got to go and overall it was a great day to be out. This place as you can imagine is real trashy, but I managed to get a few keepers. I dug the little silver thing that looks like part of a bigger piece of jewelry about an hour into the hunt. Soon after I dug the 1841 Seated Dime, it is quite warn but always great when you can get a date of any coin. Through out the hunt I was doing a lot of prospecting on the 25 acre field. We had found the grandstand area, but other areas still avoid us. Well on one of my prospecting runs I got the 1800's Fire Department button, which is in pretty nice shape. My friend Gary dug 11 coins overall two Barber Dimes, 1 Indian were included in the mix. Thanks for reading and looking.
