You could have an unhappy buyer not having acknowledged it has been cleaned.

I cannot even fathom the thought of selling a coin like that!!! I have never dug a seated half and would treasure that far too much to sell.

Considering the large scratches on it, they probably won't mind that it's been cleaned. Someone buying this would prob. just buy it to add to their collection or for the silver content. He's not really asking a high price for it.

You might want to add some clear photos too.

Also, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to to mention the cleaning, although people should see it's unnaturally bright. Photos will help prospective bidders see the degree of cleaning.

He's not asking any price, it's an auction. Cleaned is a bigger deal breaker for most than scratches so I would never assume if a buyer is ok with one, he'd be ok with the other. The problem is the door is being left open for the buyer to back out of the deal, and it's a pain to deal with. But of course it's possible the new owner will love it. Just depends who that is.

Exactly. He's not asking a high price. It's an auction and he has no reserve. I do agree he should have more of a description, like the item is a "dug" item. See, I personally thought on bidding 'cause I don't have one, but my wife would be mad. lol But I know the condition is that of a "dug" coin...others wouldn't.

An auction has nothing to do with an asking price. You can start it at a dollar, doesn't mean you're any less responsible if it sells for a $100, compared to if you listed it for sale at $100. Just recently I bought a $450 coin which looked fine in the pic, but was absolutely horrified to receive it and see it was polished. I probably overpaid as it was, but being cleaned, that was big trouble. Fortunately I was able to return it and get my money back.

PS: That seller also wasn't asking much when he started the auction.

As a former long time e-bay seller I can tell you that good quality pictures are everything. Your obverse photo is blurred and looks like the coin has been polished. The reverse photo is ok, but a clearer crisper photo would have been better.

Yes, it has been cleaned. I should have listed it as been cleaned. Didn't think of it. Will have to fix that! THANKS GUYS
