Relic Hunting

You wanna hear something funny, I hunted this site two years ago and found squat! Of course back then I was using the Ace 350, amazing what a difference a new detector can make!
 I actually drove past the site this afternoon and turned around thinking, "what the hell, I'll give it another go! I took a couple of pics of the house and the property while standing in the driveway, it was very peaceful here.

The first relic to surface was the 'Tre-Chic Rouge' compact, then came the brooch. I honestly didn't think the brooch was anything special when I first found it, but when I got home I cleaned it up and saw how delicate it was! The large 1872 British Penny was a cool find, at first I thought it was an early Upper Canada coin
:icon_scratch:, but then I realized how thin it was and figured it had to be an English Penny! My last find was the King George V Penny. I also found a couple of lead fishing sinkers right in the middle of the front yard, reminded me of when I was a kid practicing 'casting' in my own front yard! :laughing7:

Thanks for looking,
Dave

so u found this with your ATpro after hitting it with the 350 previously? if so thats awesome because Im upgrading in about a week to the atpro from my 350 and that gives me hope that some of my "old sites" come new again!!!

Thank you for sharing your finds and experience with the different MD's. I have been considering getting the AT Pro and your post pretty well has sold me to do so..

Nice finds on your second visit ANTIQUARIAN.

Thank you very much sir! :icon_salut:

I've made a concentrated effort to revisit the sites I originally hunted with the 350 two years ago. Don't get me wrong, the 350 found a lot of cool stuff and I really liked the way the unit worked. This is probably one of the main reasons why I choose the AT Pro, i also wanted the 'learning curve' to be as smooth as possible.

As the experts say, "a site is never completely hunted out'!

Thanks prolab!

Great hunt, man! That's a very pretty brooch.

Best of luck with the new machine. :)

I've had the AT Pro since March 2012, but it still teaches me something new every day!
Best of luck to you my friend,
Dave

PS. Great 'signature' man, cause I sure need to speak to someone about this addiction!

Great finds! That ATPro is quite the machine...

guys i gotta ask; what is a realistic depth to expect with the atpro? 10+" a dream/wish or is it actually possible?

It depends on the target. Last year I found a silver dime 8-9 inches deep, even an 1897 5 cent silver 6 inches deep alongside a large rusty nail. I have found many other things in the 10+ range. The iron audio along with the proportional audio make this thing a killer machine.

im about 98% sure i want one, it doesnt help when i see videos on youtube of a guy who cant hit a silver half at 6" with 3 different at pros, im hoping hes doing something wrong. Heck i think my ace350 can hit a silver half at 6

I saw that video a couple of years ago even before I bought my AT Pro! What I can tell you is that silver that's been buried in the ground for 50+ years will sound a lot different then a half that was only buried 6 months ago! Think about how the silver affects the soil around it, not to mention how mineralization affects metals in the ground over an extended period of time!

I've yet to meet anyone who's not happy with their AT Pro purchase . . . except of course for that idiot who forgot to mark the spot where he buried his 50c. piece! :laughing9:
