The other day I found a site that had given up a couple of half cents and a few other trinkets. I decided to go back and try to find another half cent. I got a signal just like a half cent. It looked like a half cent and it's copper but it's an 1840 Bergan Iron Works Store Token made in Lakewood, New Jersey. They were made in copper and brass. The copper ones are rarer (R-4). The obverse text reads “Bergen iron Works Store” and the reverse text reads “Bone Fidei Signum 1840.” Translation: Latin: Good faith sign. It shows two hands shaking surrounded by rays. I'll have go back and get another half cent!
