Forgot to mention this find, its one of my greatest. About 7 years ago in my change for an ice cream at a store i recieved an 1838 0 seated liberty dime in (if i remember correctly) VF - 20 condition. I held onto it for a year and then i remember spending it somewhere on a piece of gum. Just remebered this story because i was flipping through the redbook for fun a few minnutes ago, i noticed that the same coin is now worth $350.00. If anyone has gotten this same coin in there change please let me know and post a pic. Im just interested in finding out if anyone from TN found it. (could have been sometime in the last 6 or so years). Thanks. :'( :o >:( :( :-[ :-X :-\ :'(

The only reason im positive it was an 1838 0 is because i remember it had no stars on the obverse. (i also remember the date and mint mark because it was my first real find.).

I did the same when I was younger...Spent a lot of silver walking liberty halves on my favorite candy REESE'S Peanut Butter Cups..What an idiot!!!
They were 10 cents ea..

Hi CC

I am glad you posted this as earlier today you had said you found a seated 7 years ago, which would make you 7 at the time. Reading that post, I thought you had found it metal detecting and that would be quite a feat for a 7 year old. It's a bummer that you spent it but nothing you can do about it now I guess (except cry...lol).
So you'll just have to get lucky and find another one huh?

Best of luck my friend!

Yep, I think we've all done this sort of thing in the past.

Oh well, what's done is done. Maybe you'll dig another one soon!

Thanks for the replies. :'( :'( :'( lol. I sure have made up for it though in silver halves, (not quite 350 dollars worth though) but its getting there.

There was this one time when I got an 1803 half cent in my change at the gas station; I bought a pack of juicy fruit with it ;D ;D ;D

I can't believe you did that, Zoyboy. I told you not to at the time! But, the juicy fruit did taste good; thanks for giving me a piece.

When I was about seven years old, my Twin brother took our grandfathers box of quarters and he spent them all at a soda machine. Turned out to be around 20$ face vale in silver quarters. I had nothing to do with the crime and he got into big trouble.
