Hit our spot in Winchester, VA today. I hit a field next to a tall grassy area where I found my 1722 cut spanish 2 reales last year and right away started to find early tombac style buttons. Most were broken, found 2 with beautiful designs on them. Also found a blank copper coin? I have found at least 5 of these and I do not know if they are coins or what. They are the same size and thickness of large cents, but you can't see anything on them. Completely smooth. Anyway, I kept working that area and on the hill side I found a 1836 large cent, she's a little worn and bent, but I'll take large cents any day of the week! Also found a variety of CW bullets including a 3 ringer, spencer, colt pistol, couple round balls, burnside and another bullet that I can't I.D. It has 2 rings, appears to be fired and has a cone based cavity such as an enfield would have. Found the little brass buckle way over a foot deep, but the F75 picked it out like it was nothing. Found the 1891 IH in the cornfield first thing. It's a little toasty, but can make the date out at least. Overall I'd say it was a fantastic day with beautiful weather especially for January. Thanks for looking guys and happy hunting!

By the way, I found another one of those decorative brass pieces with one hole on each end. lol Anyone know what they were used for? :laughing7: Juuuuust kidding!

WOW man you did it again. I just cant get any luck when i go out, i guess if its not under my coil I cant dig it! Nice job once again on some awesome finds!!!

Relics are foating out of the ground here in Tennessee today Matt!! Another outstanding hunt and you are picking up where you left off last year. Like that LC , buttons, & lead. HH, Q.

That's a nice bunch of finds Matt. I love those 2 decorated tombacs. And I know what a bummer it is to dig an early copper only to have it come out slick as a whistle. But that's not all that uncommon for colonial coppers. Hopefully you can get into some more silver next time out. Very nice hunt!

Great finds,I went out today got nothing, but it was good to get out, did have a little luck yesterday.

Thanks, Bill. I was expecting some colonial silver or some early U.S. silver, but just didn't get my coil over any. I have a feeling it's in there. The one tombac with the "sunburst" type design is only the second one I have found with shank intact. I have found a lot of tombacs but most seem to be missing the shank.

Thanks, Q. Do you know what type of bullet that is? I wasn't sure if it was CW period or not. It's the bullet 3rd over from the left.

Thanks, Ryan. I know what you mean. I have been pretty lucky so far, but I know those days when you just don't find anything or much at all. It can be frustrating at times when you know you're in an old spot, but it's like you said. Just a matter of getting your coil over that target. The year has just begun and you did get that awesome bit boss. Wouldn't mind diggin' one of those!

By the looks of your "normal" finds you would have a disappointing hunt with me. Again great finds!

We've all had hunts that don't add to much. Thanks for looking! HH

Yes, 2 rings. I'll get the measurements for you tomorrow. I've never dug one like it, did think it was an enfield at first but saw the 2 rings. Could be post CW, but like I said just not sure.
