having only an hour to hunt i hit a hay field close to my home its been hit hard by me and eric over the last few years but we still manage to find a coin or two each time we go there
any way i got this 1836 cap bust dime
eric say he is not sure if its real being it is badly pitted and under weight by .3 grams
any input
i took the dime to our local coin dealer and after looking it over real close he said it is a cap bust dime not a counterfit

Re: 1836 cap bust dime

No disrespect meant here but how do you all figure it is counterfeit?
Was that common back in the day ?
It sort of resembles aluminum the way it has degraded over time ?

Great old Silver :o
.3 grams short on 2.5 is not out of line considering it's condition.
