These pictures are not of my actual find which I will post when I get them. Mine is not in as good condition. I'm pretty perplexed that on the one hand I want to identify finds like this but after quite a few hours of dry toothpick picking, hot peroxide baths with Q tipping and finally Naval jelly with Q tips I may have hurt the value. Geeesch...........I've read all of Buckle Boys tutorials on button cleaning etc. but I'm not getting the results I want. My token had a thick coating of greenish plaque that finally chipped away with the toothpick method but the rear side is actually showing the original copper metal. Probably a no no

Interesting find. At least you were able to get an ID. I found an 1835 H T Token a while ago and it was pretty much mangled but had just enough detail to ID.

Keep in mind most buttons cleaned with jelly are gilt brass and coins/ tokens are not, mostly copper/ bronze; each of these metals require different methods of cleaning( if you choose to go in that direction). Also, not every find is cleanable , some are toast and any amount of cleaning wont bring them back.

Yeah this token is def. copper. How would you suggest I clean it?

I personally don't clean many of my coin finds, although peroxide does bring up some detail in the ones that I have. Beyond that, you may accept advice from others who clean their finds on a regular basis, you will find that results will undoubtedly be varied and not every coin will improve from intensive cleaning methods.

Nice find but you shouldn't be ashame to post your actual one Fast Ed.
Thanks man, I'm not ashamed of the find but I am ashamed that I can't take pictures worth a darn so I'm waiting on Mrs. Fast and her camera :)
