Dosn't EXIST 1837 was last year according to my Red Book

without a hole, about $15.00 in Good condition.

With ?

no mint mark?

It'll be worth whatever you can get for it, no more than $40 I'd imagine. Probably about $5 at the most :)

Hello CC, what is the real date of the coin?

The title of the thread (subject) is "1835 bust dime?" But then you say;

I bought an 1858 capped bust dime in VF condition for 2 bucks! Only problem is, it has a hole in it. Anyone know what this could be worth?

In either case, what you have is NOT a capped bust dime in VF condition. It would be, according to what you have said, a (holed) capped bust dime CULL with VF "details." It is worth roughly what you paid for it. Or, whatever you can get someone to give you for it.

BTW, a hole in a coin is not a small problem to collectors. Condition (which translates to distractions and damage to coins as well), is a huge part of what determines the value of a coin numismatically. It's nice to have something that is old and which you can still see some good details of; but in terms of value, the HOLE did it in.

Keep up the good coin hunting and better luck next time. With kindest regards,

CC...as JDSCoins said...the hole did it in value wise numismatically, as for investment purposes or coin value its not worth much. Value is about its weight in silver. That said, I would have paid 2 bucks for it without hesitation, but more just to have it than for coin or bullion value. But I say that only because I;ve yet to find one detecting and its a blank hole in my type collection. Even with the hole though, with the VF details I think I would have parted with 2 bucks for it as well.

Well, if anyone ever needs an early date bust dime (it is 1835 by the way, sorry) (no mint marck), for a necklace or something, they wont want to pay 50 bucks for one without a hole to put a hole into it. Thanks for the help! I think im just gonna save it as an example of the series.

THANK YOU!
