Hello everyone. I had taken a break from hunting for awhile to get myself physically fit.
I had quit smoking 1 year and 9 months ago and knew I'd start to gain weight so I concentrated
on eating right and exercising 6 days a week and doing the total lifestyle change. I just got back into
detecting and went on my first relic hunt in awhile with my buddy George yesterday. We hit a recently harvested cornfield before the rain. Nothing spectacular until I got this good signal with
my musky. One shovel down was this half dime in pretty good condition. First half dime for me.
Needless to say I'm back and looking forward to our next hunt.

What a killer "back to the hobby" first find! Great to have you back on board. I will be looking for more posts from the corn fields:icon_thumright:

Great looking half dime! That's a great way to get back in the saddle! And a BIG Congrats on making some healthy changes in your life! I bet you feel like a new man! WAY TO GO! :icon_thumright:

Thanks Dave. Yes I do feel like a new man. I never would've thought 50 years old I'd be running 4 miles three days a week and biking 16 miles two days a week. Almost 20 lbs lighter too. Off the blood pressure medicine 6 months now. You'd be surprised how much better things work once you get healthy.

Karma for being keeping up a healthy lifestyle! Love the find!

That is a freakin' awesome find, there!! WTG!! :icon_thumright:

somethin about that coin is awesome, they just have an interesting design, come to think of it, any old coin is awesome, all the new junk, clad zinc crap it worthless, terribly designed, and have zero "wow" factor for me. Hope my kids have something cool to search for in the future.

I would be smoking (no need for a cigarette) with a neat find like the half dime. I consider metal detecting my work out routine. I walk alot, do squats as I dig up coins and other treasure, and deep shoulder thrust as I push my digger into get those goodies. Hope you have more great finds.

That's a beauty! Welcome back.

Congrats on a beauty of a half dime. :hello2: WTG on the lifestyle changes too....great story. :icon_thumleft:

Congrats on your lifestyle change. That is tough to get started, but the rewards are so great. It's fantastic to see you posting again, and bravo to you for digging such a nice coin in such beautiful condition.

Cheers,

Buck

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. It's never too late to turn your life around. I'm already jonesing for the next relic hunt. Happy hunting.

Hey Mike. Good to see you're doing well. Last I talked to you was 2006. I too took a break from metal detecting until my house in Brick was swamped by Sandy. I lost both, my Whites DFX and Whites 5900 detectors. I had to go out and buy another, so I switched gears and went with the Garrett At Pro. Now i got the fever again. I'm living up here in Aberdeen until the house gets rebuilt. Anyway, good to hear you stop smoking and working out.
