Another great hunt tonight. We are having a great year finding some old sights. Tonight we didn't dig a lot of targets, but some nice ones. My one buddy got a LC that appeared to date at 1822 and my other buddy found what looks to be a coin but we can't get an ID on it. Very thin and around the size of a 2 cent piece. We also dug buttons and miscellaneous.

The back of this button says "waterbury" on the bottom but I can't make out the top. Any ideas on the age of this button?

This next item appeared to be a pocket watch at first but now I am not sure what it is. The reverse is decorative and the front has thick glass with what appears to be a picture of a bird or something else. Look near the top of the glass and you will see an eye of a bird or something else. I may have to take the glass out carefully and clean it to see what it is.

Those are some great finds, and it proves that there is large copper in places other than here on the East Coast!

That 2 center is a real beauty. It is one coin that remains on my want list.

Congrats,
Neil

I think I have a long way to go to rival some of your finds but thanks anyway. The one thing I haven't been finding much of this year is old silver. One of these days...

Thanks Jack, I hope my luck continues!

Well, I had to take the one item apart because curiousity got the best of me. As you can see, the picture is of a dog, not a bird! I was hoping someone slid a capped bust half behind the picture but no such luck. I put it all back together when I was done. Here is the picture of Fido...

this is very cool stuff

Scoville Button company in Waterbury, Connecticut has been making buttons since the early 1800's. Depending on the back mark, you can date the button, because the company has varied its back marks over the years.

Awesome bunch of finds love the Lc and the Two center I found my first one a couple weeks ago but mine wasnt a civil war era one. The button looks to be 1830 to 1845 but its hard to see but that should be close. Nice finds and good luck on your next hunt!!
