Hi all :hello:
Had to comment on the Matron, she is one tough looking Liberty Bust :laughing7:
Pulled her from the foundation I got the love token from, same amount of time,
about 2 hrs pulling iron & junk, then a goody :hello2:
some whatsit iron pieces, oxshoes, & a knife blade
I don't think it was out of the bank long, just weakly struck..
The decision whether and how to clean an old copper is always a tough one for me, I'm happy with the results this time
(of course it looks much better in hand than the photos)
My last 4 coppers were half cents, this largie sure feels heavy!
I gave my etracs stock coil a shot here, I'll tell you it doesn't compare with the Coiltek Joey for picking thru junk.
If you hunt in trash, you need this coil !

Mike at www.woodlanddetectors.com is the man to see.

Some other 20th C items dug out of a wooded lot behind an abandoned home,
(no digging in the lawn!) gotta love 'RopeMan' :laughing9:
Thanks for looking! HH Everyone

Hi Dave and Chris,
Thanks for your replies!!
Dave, I have no idea what that emblem is from.
no attachment points, just thin stamped & plated/enamelled brass,
I do like the Eagle and Shield!
Thanks for looking & HH

Re: 1818 WWF Token, Er.. Large Cent

Congratulations!!!!!!! :notworthy:

Herbie,
Your 1818 LC looks fantastic after cleaning. What did you use? :icon_scratch:
A coin like that would make my day week year.
Congrats,
Doug

nice clean up of that LC.
i've always said the 1817 LC's were made of good copper-
perhaps this one was from some of that stock...

Ohhhh to find just ONE LC. I'd be a happy gal. :icon_sunny: That ones a good 'un, Herb! 8) Charlie was up in CT for a couple of weeks and he'd call and tell me of the old 1600's towns he went thru and send pics of beautiful old homes. I just could not imagine the finds that could come from places that old. :o GREAT for MD'ers that live in the NE...that is till winter sets in. :P :D
Congrats on those fab finds!
Nana :hello:

It's old enough to be worn. Glad to see you are still finding spoons Herbie. I thought of you in Ark. when I dug a full spoon from circa. 1900. I gave it to the landowners. Nice saves, Quindy.

that cellar hole is still being good to you i see

nice Large cent ...congrats!

Thanks All
Dug, it got a water spray, (then first photos), a hot peroxide treatment, (2 times)
after that it was half green & half brown, so I applied copper polish just long enough to melt the green crust,(maybe 10 seconds) rubbing & picking with wood skewer, several hot water rinses to get that copper polish completely removed.
then a light coat of matte poly spray, I prefer this as it can be removed with acetone,
wax it, and it's there forever.
Nana, Your Copper is coming
Appreciate all your replys! HH All

Hi Dwayne,
Could very well be, I also have an exceptional 1820 :dontknow:
and those microclimates, I've dug a beautiful 1802, 10 feet from a toasted wheat,
you never know...
Copper is unpredictable, but I'm getting better at when & how to 'Clean'
(I really messed up some of my first ones :-[ )
the early Silver almost always comes out nice :D Thanks & HH
