1817 counterstamped 13 star penny

[indian kirk]

hi, having hard time finding info on this counterstamp without having to buy brunks book,dont dare to soak or clean yet til i know the value or rarity,havnt seen any with the IB to compare with.have had help on idenity (thank you) but wondering how many were stamped IB and the years.hope this is posted the right way for im new at this,under a foot of snow now so i must be bored (need to swing) hope everyone has a good holiday kirk

. . . congrats on the nice countermarked large cent . . . the IB countermark is listed in Gregory G Brunks book "Merchant and Prvately Countermarked Coins" on pp. 21-22 . . . it states that the IB countermark means 'Isle of Barbados' West Indies . . . let me know if you'ld like to sell it as I collect countermarked coins.
