I BOUGHT TIS BUTTON ON EBAY CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MUCH IT IS WORTH HERE IS AN ANSWER TOR THE PERSON POST. THANK YOU Your pre-War of 1812 description of this button is pretty accurate. It is found on page 27 of Albert's "Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons" and is numbered GI-53-R2-A. Albert states, "Infantry buttons of this period are Sheffield plate." Nice button!

Not sure if the link is to the same button. No backmark on this button. Could be covered in "crud" but looks like it is missing. That could be important in determining authenticity.

Holy Mackeral.

I found a similar object this weekend in a box from my Moms stuff. I've looked through this box many many times before and somehow missed this until last Saturday :icon_scratch:

I have not had a chance to photo it yet, but will do. Probably make a post of it's own since it is a little different. I've read on this website before about how similar objects appear around the same time frame....twighlight zone material..... :tongue3:

If you look at item ri042 Design GI53RIA in the link above it look very similar to that one except the back-mark. I believe it would most likely put it in about the same time frame,Wouldn't it.But that would be just my guess

I would still say that your button would still be worth some $$$,because yours is in better shape on the front detail.Since the question is what is the button worth.
