I believe it was round, measures 1.75 inches. Copper I am thinking, rang up it the 70s on the at pro.
Any ideas?

It looks like the remains of a copper,toilet float ball.IMO Not disrespecting your find, our house had one, but ours was completely sealed our house was over 100 years old.Ranchers also used them for water troughs so there might be different styles I don't know for sure.copper-float-ball.jpg

Nah, it would never float. Less than 2 inches, better chance it is a Christmas ball than that, but thanks for trying'
