Got out for an hour between rain storms and went to a new place.? This house was built in 1904.? Found six wheat cents and a 1942 silver quarter.? It was starting to rain again, and I got a nice hit that read between a dime and a quarter.? Dug down about six inches and out popped a large cent.? I could see that it was draped bust but nothing else.? Got home and cleaned it up a bit.? It is an 1802.? The date is not real clear, but you can read it anyway.? The wet soil out here really does a job on the coppers.? The house next door must have owned this property since it was built around 1810 or so.? It made my weekend anyhow....Lance

Lance, I'll be a happy camper when I find a coin as early as that. Way to go ;D

very nice find! Just found a 1801 2 weeks ago and like you said they take a beating in the ground that long. Still cool to find em!

Thanks everyone, yeah they are still cool to find even if they are in bad shape. I just found one this evening that is totally bald. About the size of a King George, but we will never know. You wouldn't think that you could get so excited about a plain piece of copper....Lance

That's a shame it's totally worn, Lance. Would've have been nice to get an ID on it. Nice job all the same! 8)
