1800's toy soldier and a few other goodies.

I went back to the field to see if I could find the other part of my wax seal. I did such a nice job of filling my holes that there was no sign of them and no way to start re-digging them. The finds are getting slim, but I got a few more deep buttons, a fatty Indian Head and the toy soldier. After digging the body there was no way I was leaving without the head. There was no signal in the hole or the plug, but I took a chance and dug a bit deeper. Lo and behold! I got a tiny signal with a low VDI and found the head!

I am not sure of the time frame of the soldier, but my best guess is pre-CW. Are there any experts in uniforms that can help narrow down the time period of the uniform and/or toy?

Looks like the dress uniform of a union cavalry man. I've seen photos of cavalry in dress uniforms with a helmet like that circa 1870's Indian wars.
